![]() Bank North Garden (called the Fleet Center for Fleet Bank when it was built). ![]() The Boston Garden hosted the Boston Celtics (NBA) and the Boston Bruins (NHL) as well as North Station until 1998 when it was torn down and replaced with the current T.D. The station here was located near the present day Haymarket subway station and was closed and torn down around 1927 when the Boston Garden was built with it's own station underneath. No direct connection has ever existed between the two aside from an elevated transit line that closed in the 1930s and a very low-capacity freight connection which served all the industries between the two stations until the early 1970s. North Station handles everything coming from the north, and South Station handles everything coming from the south and west. ![]() Instead, Boston has two union stations a few miles apart from each other. ![]() Just to note, unlike most cities, Boston has no central union station. ![]()
